Big Wheel Grand Prix

The National Criterium Championships of Cycling are held in Downers Grove each August. We spent the late morning and afternoon today watching the races, eating lunch, and participating in the "United States Postal Service Big Wheel Grand Prix."

The Big Wheel races were done in several stages, beginning with 2-year olds, and then working all the way up through 7-year olds. Miles enjoyed racing down Main Street in Downers Grove, crossing the finish line, and receiving his medal. (Click here for all our pictures from the races.)

Emery, who also completed the pre-race safety class training, and even "warmed up" for the race, withdrew just before race time. You will note that she did not have a problem, however, participating in the post-race ice-cream celebration. A lot of fun for all!
