Five days vs. five minutes

Well, it happened. Today I finally saw an over-weight German. It took five days. Five days before I saw EVEN ONE person that I would characterize as even slightly obese. I would be willing to wager money that when I return to Chicago it will not take me any longer than five minutes (if not five seconds) before I see an obese person.

Eating and exercise are so carefully considered here. At least that has been my experience this week. Every day we eat a healthy breakfast, and then take a walk for at least 30-40 minutes. Up and down hills, and through the countryside. Then we return home around 12:30 PM for the "big meal" of the day (which is the largest ... and filling ... but certainly not too much food), and then - likely take another walk. In the evening there is a dinner which is much lighter (maybe bread and cheese ... or some vegitibles) and then another walk. When it's time for bed, the dog gets walked again (this time maybe only for 10 minutes). No wonder my leg muscles hurt!
