This afternoon we all attended the 2007 "Meet the Team" at Northwestern, which was a lot of fun. More pictures are available by clicking on our "Web Gallery" in the upper-right hand corner of the Blog.
Miles asked Head Coach Pat Fitzgerald to autograph his hat. "Fitz" was the star linebacker for Northwestern during the Rose Bowl season of 1995. (Was that really 12 years ago already?!) Mr. Fitzgerald was very nice to Miles, asking him his name, and getting down on his level (which I thought was very cool). A staff photographer for NU documented the exchange (as did Dad); my friend Bill Seliger is predicting that Miles will end up in the NU Football Media guide this year. Bill said, "Your family has good luck with stuff like that!" We'll see ...
It was nice to see the football players introduce themselves to the audience. Well spoken young men. Coach Fitzgerald said that last year the team's cumulative GPA was the highest in school history, and all 24 seniors on the team graduated. He made it very clear that the players were students first; again, I was impressed.
