Some pictures from yesterday's soccer game. Miles did a great job (look for the yellow socks) with two assists (to Diego ... see below). "The Blue Jets," won easily. Here's why ...
Chicago's professional MLS soccer team is the Chicago Fire. One of the Fire's star players is Ivan Guerrero. His son, Diego, plays on Miles' soccer team. It is so much fun to watch this little five year old son of a professional soccer player as he dribbles past everyone and scores at will. There is obviously a lot of soccer going on at home! The coach only leaves Diego on offense for a few minutes; and after the team goes up by 5 goals or so, he either pulls him or has him play defense. Ivan and his wife Johanna are really nice. Yesterday was the first time we met them both. Not pretentious at all. In fact, when Johanna mentioned to me that they used to live in Evanston, she commented that they moved to the Downers Grove area to be closer to her husband's "work." Neither of them ever brought up his pro status as a soccer player for the Honduran national team, or the Honduran Olympic team (2000) or his position on the Fire. I thought that was cool.
