We took the kids to see Wall-E this afternoon. It was the first time - in a long time - that Kristen and I could remember all four of us going to a movie at the same time. It doesn't seem to happen very often.
We actually drove about 20 miles to a new theater complex called Muvico 18. All the theaters are stadium (as you would expect now) but more importantly all had digital projection systems. The theater is next to O'Hare, and was virtually empty on a Monday afternoon. We sat dead-center in very wide plush chairs. Eye candy to be sure.
I really liked the movie; I particularly liked the message(s). I think some of the message was too sophisticated for the kids, but it did lead to some good discussion on the way home about the importance of taking care of the planet, recycling vs. garbage, exercise, etc. I do think Pixar is pretty amazing. One of my favorite parts of the afternoon was the short prior to the feature, entitled "Presto." Really funny. I haven't heard Miles laugh that hard in a long time (if ever).
Miles' favorite robot was WALL-E (left). Emery's was EVE (right).
