Hail to the Bus Driver!

District 99 recently abandon large passenger vans for transporting small groups of students to various activities, and purchased two "mini buses" for each campus. Next Monday, when our Band Leadership Training program begins, Bill Miller and I have to transport 28 students to a ropes course in Wheaton. We would typically take the vans ... but that's not an option.

So today was "training day" for Bill and me. We decided we should get the hang of the mini bus before filling it up with a bunch of loud high school students.

At first I planned to just drive it around the school a few times. But then, as I was filling it up for gas, I thought it might be fun to surprise the kids at home, and swing by to give them a ride. Kristen was helping some friends today by watching their children, so including Bill & Chris Miller, and their daughter Sydney, we had a group of eleven on the bus!

We all sang "The Wheels on the Bus ..." song and drove around the area for about 15 minutes. Lots of fun. Over my right shoulder I could hear Miles turn to his friend Cory and say, "This bus ride is AWESOME!"

The highlight for the kids seemed to be having a turn opening and closing the door. "The doors on the bus go open and shut!"
