Today was Daddy-Emery day. Like my day yesterday with Miles, we tried to create a fun day of things Emery would like doing.
We started, like yesterday with Miles, at Dunkin' Donuts for a donut, and then headed to Yorktown Mall for dress shopping. What an adventure ...
I had never been dress shopping with Emery, and let's just say I learned a lot.
From the moment we walked into the mall she wanted to be in complete control. It's like it's built into a female's DNA or something. She knew exactly how to lead me up the escalator to the third floor to where the girls dresses were waiting, and she pointed out important shopping mall landmarks as we traversed the store:
"Daddy, there's the man that plays the piano. You can sit in that chair if you get tired of shopping with me."
Here are some of the quotes I remember from the dressing rooms:
"Too tight Daddy."
"Too short Daddy."
"Too itchy Daddy."
"The tag hurts Daddy."
"Too many colors Daddy."
"Not enough color Daddy."
"I'm kind of picky about my dresses Daddy."
(no kidding Emery ...)
At one point, when she could not really think of a new reason to try on another dress she said, "Daddy ... if I don't pick this one can we still keep shopping together?" And at that point I understood that it wasn't so much that she didn't like the other dresses. She just didn't want our outing to end.
So we took a short break to ride the train.
And then back to shopping ...
