I have to write down this exchange between Miles and me this morning before I forget it.
Let me set this up ...
Miles wanted to watch the San Diego vs. Indianapolis NFL playoff game last night. It was only in the 2nd quarter when it was his bedtime, so I told him I would record the rest of the game. I tried really hard to set the DVR to record the right way, but apparently I messed this up because when he tried to watch the recording this morning, it stopped suddenly in the middle of the 3rd quarter.
So, while I'm sitting at my desk, Miles walks into the room, and says:
Miles: "Dad, it' didn't record the entire game!"
Me: "I'm really sorry Miles, I thought I set it up the right way this time."
Miles: "That's okay Dad. Who won the game?"
Me: "Well, it must have been exciting, because it went into overtime."
Miles: "Who won?"
Me: "Want to guess?"
Miles: "Sure. San Diego."
Me: "You're right."
Miles: "What was the score?"
Me: "23 - 17."
Miles, without pause: "Oh, really? That was the score when the Baltimore Colts beat the New York Giants fifty-one years ago in overtime."
Me: "What?!?!"
Miles: "It's true. That was the score fifty-one years ago when the Baltimore Colts beat the New York Giants in overtime."
Me: "Are you serious? How did you know that?"
Miles: "I saw it on TV in 2008. It was called The Greatest Game Ever Played, and it was the first NFL game to ever go into overtime. That's interesting, because last night's game was the Colts too, but now they are the Indianapolis Colts instead of the Baltimore Colts."
At this point I vaguely remembered that Miles has seen a special on TV about this game, but I was surprised that 1) he was so sure of the score, and 2) that he remembered that it was "fifty-one years ago" so quickly.
So I typed in "Greatest Game Ever Played" into Google, and got the graphic posted here.
Why do I ever question Miles memory on stuff like this?!
