A few months ago we started hearing the coo of an owl outside our house in the evening. Really pretty sounds. About two weeks ago we discovered that - in the wooded area right across the street from our driveway (literally in our front yard) - there is a nest occupied by a mother, a father, and a baby owl!
This family of owls has become something of a neighborhood (even community) "happening." We have all kinds of people - from curious joggers to the most serious bird-watchers - standing in front of our house almost constantly ... trying to get a look at these new neighborhood inhabitants. Until last weekend (before the leaves had started to bud) it was really easy to see them sitting in the nest. Now, it's getting a bit harder. But this has not stopped throngs of people to come try their luck at seeing our new neighbors.
All of this seems quite fitting to Miles, as his little-league baseball team this year is "The Owlz" (spelled with a 'z' on purpose).
