My grandmother Gigi had a saying that I adored, and was adopted by my mother and passed on to me. Right before departing on a trip Gigi was known to ask others if they were "Journey Proud". I love this phrase because it encapsulates - so quickly and with such brevity - the excitement one typically feels before a big trip.
I have been 'journey proud' about this return trip to the London New Years Day Parade ever since I got the call earlier this year inviting me to be an adjudicator. The opportunity to have my family join me - and the added bonus of attending the 'Night of Kings Parade' in Madrid, Spain (a new destination for me) makes this trip feel very special.
Miles & Emery, in particular, are filled with wonderful anticipation today. They woke up at 5 am - already claiming to be 'journey proud'. So am I.
