Sometimes - as a Chicago suburban resident - I think I take for granted what a gift it is to so close to a large metropolitan area, and all of the fun that is literally just a few miles away.
Emery and I had a fantastic day in Chicago yesterday, tagging on to the end of my stay at the Midwest Clinic. After an early morning swim, we made our way to Navy Pier for Winter Wonder Fest ... then to State Street for the Marshall Field's Christmas Windows (I still don't wan to call them "Macy's" ... the German Christmas Market at Daley Plaza ... and then ultimately to the north-side's Music Box Theatre for the 30th annual Chicago Christmas Show ("It's A Wonderful Life").
I cherish these kinds of days/moments with my children, and it was nice to have some independent time with both Miles (on Thursday) and Emery (Saturday).
