We spent the entire morning and early afternoon at the Newseum, and I could have stayed there all day. What an amazing lens in which to view and interact with history. For Miles and Emery, the highlight was definitely getting to film themselves as news reporters. I loved seeing all the newspapers on display, as well as the gallery of Pulitzer Prize winning photography. Kristen's favorite part was the 4-d Movie. No, not really. For her it was the quotes on the bathroom walls that highlighted comical typographical errors from real newspapers.
I was happy to see how interested both Emery and Miles were in our visit to the National Archives. This was - no doubt - influenced by the "National Treasure" movies. Regardless, seeing the Bill of Rights, the Declaration of Independence, and all four pages of the United States Constitution was awe-inspiring. We also saw the original Emancipation Proclamation, something I had not remembered would be on display.
Our final stop today was at Ford's Theatre where we visited the museum dedicated tonLincoln and then saw a terrific play, "One Destiny." What a treat to see theatre alive in this space.
