We made it to Salina, KS just in time for the All-Star Game. St. Louis looks great on television, and we're all excited to go to Busch Stadium this weekend. Our friend Mike Kinman, and his son Schroedter, are at the game. We've traded some text messages, and they are having a great time.
The contrast in vistas today was striking. That's all I'll say about that. The change in temperature has been striking too.
Before I forget, I want to jot down some memorable quotes from the trip so far:
=====================================
Miles: "It's not very healthy in Nebraska. Trees make you healthy, so Nebraska isn't very healthy." - Miles
=====================================
Emery: "Do the people in Nebraska talk like us?"
Miles: "Ya, ya ... They speak English in Nebraska."
=====================================
Emery (while watching the aspen trees speed by her in the car window): "It looks like milk was spilled on the trees!"
=====================================
And this, during a conversation today in the car, about things that make us happy. This really made us laugh ...
Me: "Kids, you know the three happiest days of my life, don't you?"
Kids: "No."
Me: "I'll give you one, and you see if you can come up with the other two. One was the day I married your mother. Now ... can you guess the other two?"
Kids: "No."
Me: "Okay, I'll give you a second one: the day Emery was born. Can you guess the other?"
Emery: "When we went up on the ski lift at Crested Butte?!"
