After boarding and getting situated in our "family bedroom", we made our way to the Observation Car and began enjoying the views as we traveled through Illinois toward Iowa.
We had the 5:30 pm dinner seating, and Emery was as beautiful and radiant as the flowers on the white table cloth!
After dinner we spent several fun filled hours playing cards as a family, until ...
Miles and Emery made fast friends with two boys who were returning to KC from a vacation in Chicago with their father. The four of them played cards and laughed continuously until we rolled into Kansas City and they had to say good-bye. Emails were exchanged; who knows, these kids may be visiting Downers Grove the next time they are in Chicago. I have heard that it's easy to make friends quickly on a train. Miles & Emery sure proved it today!
