NU Homecoming

Miles and I enjoyed a trip to Evanston yesterday for Northwestern's homecoming football gave against Purdue. Prior to the game we played at "Wildcat Alley" where Miles was interested in viewing the three Big 10 Championship trophies.

I've been amazed at how much Miles has picked up on the rules of football this season. He follows every play and likes to anticipate what the team will do on the following play. Lots of fun.

Wildcats are 5-0

The last time Northwestern began a football season with five consecutive wins ...

Gas was .31/gallon.
A new home cost 18K.
West Side Story won the Oscar for Best Picture.

I must admit to a low level of confidence that this success will continue uninterrupted, but it's sure fun right now! You just don't see the football standings looking like this very often.

(Since Missouri had the weekend off, Kristen let me replace the Mizzou flag with a purple one.)

NU Cats are 4 and 0

One week after I turned 40 ... the Northwestern Wildcat Football team won their fourth consecutive game, which makes them 4 - 0 for the first time in my lifetime. The last time they did this was 47 years ago.

Emery and I had a GREAT time at the game today!

I was also pleased to see that Mizzou also won today. Another set of "cats" that are off to an amazing start. And I think time will show that the Columbia Cats are serious contenders for the long haul this year.

NU's Season Opener

Miles and I enjoyed the NU vs. Syracuse game yesterday. Before the game we played at "Wildcat Alley" which proved to be great fun. Miles participated in an 'athletic challenge' activity which included a high-jump, 40 yd. dash, and a shuttle-run. He had the fastest 6-year old time in the shuttle run. He also tossed a football through a target, and won a free pop-corn at the game. Both successes made him feel very good.

NU's football win made dad feel good! As I was thinking back on the day, I believe this was the first time I've taken one of the children to a game where I sat in my seat the entire time (except for typical trips to the rest-room or concession stand) and no one asked "Dad, when will it be over? Can we leave now?" Miles was totally engaged the entire game and asking rules questions frequently. Fun stuff.

Congrats to the Mizzou Tigers on their win over Illinois! Kristen and I enjoyed our night in front of the TV, even if it did cause temporary anxiety.
