Both kids asked for pictures with Big Ben as we walked past Parliament
The London Eye was a huge hit, and turned out to be a great activity - even during some rain - because the wind was blowing enough to keep fog at bay.
From the Eye we decided to do our trek to Harrods, a destination that was new for me as well as Miles & Emery.
We each found one or more departments enjoyable ...
Miles found one of the world most expensive pianos on sale ...
... and a nice shadow box of autographed Star Wars posters.
Emery enjoyed shopping for both clothes ...
and chocolate.
Kristen found the doll house of her dreams ...
... and dad found ...
In the end, a few modest purchases were made by the kids with Christmas gift money from grandmothers. But no piano, doll house, or television. Those will have to wait until next time.
Before heading back to the hotel for an early evening nap, we made one additional Tube trip over to Saint Paul's Cathedral. (I must say, as a family we are getting darn right good at navigating the London Underground. Miles in particular loves calculating routes and leading us from place to place.
While at Saint Paul's we foreshadowed our Harry Potter tour on Wednesday by walking across the Millennium Bridge, one of the film locations in HP-6.
Our New Year's Eve Nightcap was a walk up to Parliament Square - with perhaps a half million others - to take in the London New Year's Fireworks. It was really something hard to describe in words. Pretty spectacular.
Happy 2013!
